Guest Post: Why Every Family Needs To Get Active

A mom’s work isn’t easy. Every task from keeping a close eye on her kids’ development to managing her own personal (and maybe even professional) life seems designed to wear away at her energy and well-being.

In order to keep her spirit and stamina high, it’s important that she take up a healthy routine to nurture her own strength and wellness--a routine which, for the following reasons, should definitely be a family affair!

Active Lifestyles Promote Bonding
For a family to grow together in unity, shared activities are a must. While it’s important that family members support one another in their own respective fields of interest, spending time together is the only way to build stronger ties and a common sense of belonging.

Sports and exercise provide a perfect opportunity for families to form positive memories together, and learn more about each other’s proficiencies and personalities. Some may even go the extra mile by investing in gear which provides each member of the family with a set of custom-designed athletic wear to show off proudly (my personal go-to option is https://www.strideline.com/).

Exercise Helps Your Children Grow
Studies show that incorporating athletics into a child’s lifestyle promotes their psycho-social development. Family exercise can be a great opportunity to expose one’s kids to the many different sports that could one day serve as their passion, and contribute to some of their development through parent-taught lessons such a winning and losing with grace, or the importance of teamwork and communication.

Your child will thank you for introducing them to the games of their youth, while you get to watch proudly as they step up to the game in Strideline gear, customized to match their teammates and family members!

It Keeps Your Children Unplugged
For every gadget and website that’s popular among today’s youth, there are at least two reasons why you should minimize your children’s exposure to them. Don’t get me wrong, there are proper ways for children to learn from and enjoy technology, but it’s far too easy for children to fall in the deep end and become fixated for hours on end with some mindless game or video streamer’s channel.

The days of playing outside are almost long gone, and might be lost entirely unless parents step in and introduce their kids to the fun that playing outdoors can offer.

Active Lifestyles Prevent Disease
The most important reason why families need to get active is also the most serious. Every year, people die of preventable diseases due to poor lifestyle management, and studies show that unhealthy habits begin in early age.

If a parent’s job is to set their children up for a long and happy life, then it’s critical that they encourage their kids to stay active and watch their health closely. On a final note of advice, family exercise has to be enjoyable so children learn to look for it as a part of their routine. The worst possible outcome is that a mom’s efforts are too pushy or stressful, and the child learns to dislike the idea of exercise; fun is your best friend in helping them build the habit.
