Useful Tips To Spring Clean Your Medicine Cabinet

This post has been sponsored by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. All thoughts and reviews are my own.

It’s the first day of May, can you believe it?!! By now we’re well into spring and that means you’ve probably tackled your spring cleaning to-do list, and have done a decent job freshening up your home for the warmer day ahead. Washed the windows? Check. Cleaned out the fridge? Yup. Worked on yard? You betcha. Cleaned out the medicine cabinet? ...errr

Like many, chances are you’ve overlooked the medicine cabinet during your spring cleaning. The truth is it should be cleaned out regularly because holding on to those unused or unwanted medications can actually do more harm than good. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and extend spring cleaning to your medicine cabinet with these easy tips.

1. Always Check The Dates. Make sure to go through all your medicines, including ointments and vitamins and discard anything that has expired. As a parent, this is a must. You wouldn’t want to accidently give your child something that has lost its ineffectiveness, or worse gone bad or toxic.

2. When in Doubt Throw It Out. Over time labels fade making it hard to identify or some items might even change color or smell. If you’re not sure, it’s best to chuck it. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

3. Stock Up On The Essentials. No one likes doing midnight store runs. When it comes to certain medicines like, Children’s Advil®, Children’s Robitussin® and Children’s Dimetapp®, it’s always a good idea to keep these essentials in stock for when sick gets real!

4. Organize & Declutter. If there’s one thing I hate seeing, it’s clutter. I’m a firm believer if your clear the clutter, you free your mind. Don’t overcrowd the shelves or leave small loose items scattered everywhere. Instead, use canisters and or containers to organize and store products.

The transition from winter to spring may bring flowers and sunny days, but it can also mess with our immune system. Don’t let the weather change spoil the fun for you or the kiddies - be prepared!
