Like Mother, Like Daughter

You know they say the older you get, the more you turn into your mother. Well, I didn't know how true that was is until last Christmas, when my parents came to stay with us for a few days, and I realized my mom and I are now practically the same person! Don't get me wrong - we've always had things in common, but last year, I came to the realization that I've completely morphed into my mother. As frightening as that sounds, I'm actually OK with it becomes when it comes down to it, my mother is pretty great.

She's caring and fiercely strong. She's loyal with heart of gold and completely selfless to a fault. She's always instilled in me the importance of being kind and the power of a prayer. She's shown me the true meaning of working hard and taking chances. How to be resilient and never give up. God hasn't given me enough time in a lifetime to express how much I love and appreciate her. I can only hope that one day Arianna will look at me the way that I see her. For now, I'll take the small similarities in our smile and thick hair, our sense of humor, or penchant for a bold lip, and the need for a mid-afternoon latte break as sign that growing up and turning into my mother isn't a bad thing, it's a blessing.

Big thanks Dia&Co. who inspired me to write about my mother for Mother's Day...
Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there, especially to my beautiful mother, Gloria.
