The Best Places to Take the Kids this Spring Break (Guest Post)

It’s close enough to March to start thinking seriously about Spring Break. Your family needs to shrug off their winter coats, put on a pair of oofos and start enjoying some outdoor activities again. You’ll get to spend some quality time with the kids and reap the health benefits of the great outdoors. But finding the right vacation for children and adults can be a challenge, especially if you’re dreaming about some relaxing afternoons of peace and quiet. Try these compromises:

A Family Friendly Resort

What’s so great about resorts? Relaxing days at the beach, national parks, or nature trails, all-inclusive hotels to suit every budget and activities for all the family. Many resorts will give you complete details about excursions you can do with your children and some of them might even offer their own entertainment, or a childminder right inside their facilities. Look for a travel agency that offers vacation packages for the entire family or, if you have some extra time, you can save money by planning the trip on your own.

A Skiing Trip

If you’re not ready to say goodbye to winter just yet, then why not take advantage of the weather to go skiing? After all, spring break happens during prime skiing season, and all that powder’s just waiting to be skied on. Choose from popular destinations like the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Lake Placid in New York, or the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Take advantage of the trip to organize some lessons for your children, who will have the time of their lives playing in the snow. Be sure to take or rent appropriate equipment for both you and your kids. Plenty of warm clothes, comfortable footwear, and powerstep insoles to include in their ski boots.

Ranch Life

Spring is the perfect season for exploring nature and teaching your kids some new and interesting facts about wildlife. An escape to a ranch is the perfect option if you’re ready for some adventure and lying on the beach isn’t your thing. Many ranches offer excellent packages for families including activities and leisure. You also get to decide where to go depending on the type of climate you like best. If you enjoy cool spring days, then try Colorado, but if you’re ready to leave the snow behind, go for the warm climate of Arizona. Don’t forget to pack in resistant shoes and sunscreen protection. Plan your vacation wisely and try not to spend money you don’t have. But remember that the whole point of a vacation is relaxing and getting some rest, so don’t get caught out in an emergency situation that could ruin your holiday. Make sure you pack your toddler’s favorite sleeping blanket, an extra battery charger for the phones, a first aid kit, GPS, spenco insoles to comfort your feet, and mosquito repellant if you’re going somewhere tropical. Happy Spring Break!
