How To Stay Forever Young (…Or At least Look It)

Olay recently asked me how I stay forever young, and it got me thinking. Aging gracefully is something all women hope to accomplish. There isn’t a single woman out there that doesn’t want her skin to be clean, clear, dewy, and wrinkle-free forever. However, I refuse to believe that we have to disguise the aging process with Botox, eye-lifts, lip plumpers and all sorts of procedures to convey a youthful look. That might work for some, just not for me.

The key to a beautiful complexion is obvious, really - it’s daily care and smart prevention. I know, I know. I would love for it to be a glorious magical pill we can all find over-the-counter too, but that’s simply not the case. Having great skin takes some good ol’ TLC. The good news is that it’s never too early or too late to start taking better care of your skin. I’m not claiming to have a perfect complexion, but here are some rules I follow to maintain a daily fresh face.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Water plays a vital role in keeping our overall body healthy. When we are not sufficiently hydrated, the appearance of our skin suffers, turning our skin dry, tight, and flaky. Drinking more water will help rid the body and skin of toxins and keep us looking and feeling refreshed.

Sun Protection
It might seem like a no brainer, but applying SPF even when the beach days are long gone is a must. Make sure to wear at least SPF 30 daily, regardless of the season, to help avoid potential life-long damages of the sun.

Daytime & Night-time Routine
Using cleansers, soaps, and toners morning & night is extremely important because not only does it clean our skin, it also addresses other issues such as acne and wrinkles. Adding oils like Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is also a good idea because it’s designed to work with our skin and protect against moisture loss. It conditions skin and evens tone, while also bringing a surge of hydration to nourish dull, dry skin. Plus it leaves skin luminous and totally glow-worthy.

Moisturizing is Essential
Using a moisturizer on a regular basis keeps your oil levels in your skin regulated and can be the answer to getting silky, smooth skin. The best times to apply moisturizer are after you bathe, shave, or exfoliate.

Exfoliate Once or Twice a week
Exfoliating can improve the results of your skin care routine and help rejuvenate your skin. No matter your skin type, exfoliation can bring new life to your complexion.

Sip That Tea
Drinking teas, including green, black and red, have been used to improve the overall health and appearance of skin for centuries. Rich in antioxidants, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, tea is a powerful tool to maintain a healthy glow.

Don’t skimp on sleep
It may sound basic but not getting enough sleep can make you look older and give you a dull complexion. Make sure to make it a priority and get plenty of ZZZ’s.
