6 Holiday Hairstyles Made Easy

It's holiday party season, and though that might sound exciting, as women we know that also means finding the perfect dress, the perfect shoe, the perfect bag, and the perfect makeup for the event. If that wasn't stressful enough we also have to think about what the heck we're going to do with our hair?!?

In the past, my quick fix was to go to the salon and be done with it, but with so many things on my plate now, I find it harder and harder to make a 3 hour salon visit. That of course means I have to fend for myself in the hair department. Luckily, I found this great article on Total Beauty which gave some fabulous styling tips for amazing holiday hair. Here are just some of my favorite tips.

Let It Faux

Faux bobs are inherently festive, which is why Stacy Kiebler's modern take on it for this year's Academy Awards is one of our favorites to try this season. To copy it, create a deep side part, and then use a 1.25-inch barrel iron to curl sections of your hair. Tease your hair gently using a teasing brush, and then use multiple bobby pins to tuck curled sections of your hair at the nape of your neck.

Just Add Sparkle

Ponytails may well be the most practical hairstyle for any party involving wine, spirits, dancing and mistletoe. But the key to making them look just as fabulous as they are functional is the styling. To get this look, use a flat iron to straighten your hair and tame any flyaways. Then create a deep center part as you smooth your hair back to a low ponytail. Secure your ponytail with an elastic and finish with a sleek accessory.

Everything Nice

If your holiday look is more about your outfit, opt for a chic, slicked-back style like Emma Watson's. Just blow dry or flat iron any wavy sections of your hair, and then create a deep side part. Apply a styling pomade or gel over the top and sides of your hair, and then use a soft bristle brush to smooth your hair back to a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Twist and wrap your ponytail ends around the base of the elastic and secure with a bobby pin. Spritz your style with a little shine serum for an extra radiant finish.

Festive Flair

Going for a hairstyle that's sure to turn heads? Embrace your natural texture. To create a super trendy updo paired with festive holiday makeup. Mist a moisturizing spray all over your hair, and then gather your hair up to your crown. Twist and pin sections of your hair down to secure, allowing the ends to fall forward and frame your face evenly. Top it off with a little shine serum and bam -- pretty-frizzy made gorgeous.

On The Nice List

If you're going for the Lily Collins version of a holiday-perfect look, you'll want full brows, a bold, berry lip and perfectly coiled vintage curls. To steal her hairstyle, curl sections of your hair toward your face using a 1-inch barrel curling iron. Once all of your hair is curled, using a vented brush to rake through them, creating an even, retro curl pattern.

Retro Glam

A perfect way to spice up a lob haircut is to create soft waves starting at the eye-level. Julianne Hough's look takes it even further, slicking one side back to create a sultry, over-the-shoulder style. To try it yourself, wrap sections of your hair around a 1-inch barrel styling wand, making sure to wrap sections toward your face. Once all of your hair is curled, smooth one side back to the nape of your neck, securing with bobby pins. Rake through your waves using a fine-toothed comb to even out the curl pattern, and then use a finishing spray to set your style.
