12 Must-See Family Attractions In NYC

Now that Summer is coming to a close it’s time to make the most of the little time we have left to squeeze out some fun before the kiddies go back to school. Going on a family getaway is always a great idea, but if your schedule only allows you to stay local, exploring your city, town, or neighborhood is the way to go!

Arianna is extremely lucky that NYC is just a short drive away, and just happens to be the perfect destination for families of all ages. There are so many things to do and see in the city – the choices are endless really. These however, are my top favorite family spots to see this summer:

Bronx Zoo – With approximately 5,000 animals and 265 acres, families will have a great time spotting all kinds of wildlife and exotic creatures here.

The Museum of Natural History – You can’t help but be awestruck when wandering through the dinosaurs, ocean life, space exhibits.

Central Park – A green getaway in the middle of a concrete jungle. It’s filled with kid-friendly attractions such as ice skating ring/amusement park, playgrounds, carousel, zoo, and much more.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art – You can spend an entire day here and still only see a fraction of it. Kids will enjoy workshops and special exhibitions.

Empire State Building – The city’s most iconic fixture. Take advantage of impressive views of the city from the 86th-floor observatory.

Intrepid- This aircraft carrier turned science museum is a fun destination for kids to explore and learn about aviation and nautical machinery.

Toys R Us/ FAO Schwarz – These two stores are a child fantasy. From the 60ft indoor Ferris wheel at Toys R Us to the FAO Schwarz iconic floor piano - everything is made to bring out your inner child.

Times Square- Known as The Crossroads of the Worlds, this brightly illuminated hub will dazzle kids and adults alike.

Yankee Stadium – You don’t have to be a Yankee fan to admire this ballpark. Browse artifacts and memorabilia at the museum, or stick around for a hot dog and game.

New York Botanical Garden – As if the beautifully landscaped flora weren’t enough, during the holidays they host a train show that can’t be missed.

Statue of Liberty – Visit this iconic beauty on a cruise around Liberty Island.

Top of the Rock – The perfect destination for family photos with a spectacular view of the city as your background.
