A few days ago I was ripping out pages in my magazines looking for new products to try and one product in particular caught my eye. The Clean Express Flash Clean Makeup Removing Lotion from Maybelline. (Whew! That's a mouthful). It's basically a lazy girl's makeup remover. Much like a makeup wipe, it claims to remove waterproof mascara, eyeshadow, foundation - basically everything in just one swoop. And since I'm always looking for ways to cut down my bedtime routine, I gave it a shot.
First, the texture of the lotion is nice - it's not too thick or watery. You can apply a small amount on a cotton pad and swipe it across your face and eyes to remove makeup. There’s no need to rinse afterwards as it acts as not only a remover but also has a hydrating formula that leaves skin soft and smooth after use. You can also use your fingers to rub it in then wipe it off, which was my personal preference.
As far as the results, I felt like it did a decent job of removing my makeup however, my face didn't feel as clean as when I wash it. I also woke up to the case of raccoon eyes the next morning, so it didn't fully remove my mascara either. Bottom line, I don't think this will be replacing my regular face washing routine. Let's face it - I'm not 15 years old anymore and I can't get away with not cleaning my face thoroughly everyday. But I do think this would be good product for someone who maybe doesn't wear as much makeup, OR for those days that you're just too darn tired to do much else. Definitely not for every day use though.
The Clean Express Flash Clean Makeup Removing Lotion is priced at $5, and is available at drugstores and mass retailers.
