On Tuesday, the adorable and talented Jennifer Garner video chatted with a few select bloggers and I was lucky to not only attend the online event, but also have her answer my question regarding film roles. The event was to promote her new movie, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which opened in theatres yesterday, August 15th.
Jennifer was as likeable and bubbly as you would expect her to be. She seemed to be in admiration of mom bloggers, and joked at vast of us out there. During our chat she answered questions like:
"What do you hope people will take away from The Odd Life of Timothy Green?"
JG: "Gosh, I would love you to take away that we need to live in the moment more, and judge our kids less, and judge ourselves less as moms. That we're all trying our hardest, and its a really tough job and we're figuring it out as we go along and that's okay."
As far at the wardrobe in the movie, she accredits Susie DeSanto - whom she also worked with on 13 Going On 30, and is one of her favorite costume designers. (That movie by the way, is one of my favorite romantic comedies ever, and will always get played on a girls night in.)
My question for Jen - Yes, we are on a first name basis
JG: "There's so much that goes into choosing a movie. First of all, I have to love it. I have to really really love it. Probably writing is my favorite thing - if it's really well written. Then, who the director is, is obviously important. You guys can't imagine how important a director is and what a difference it makes. Well, I'm sure you can - you've seen a lot of movies - but the director just changes everything. Then it's - where does it shoot, what's happening with my kids, can my husband be around? Do we need to be somewhere for him, do I need to be home because he's working? You know - it's a lot. It's tricky, but it works."
It's nice to see that big movie stars like Jennifer Garner put their families first. There were other questions asked, but I was so entranced by her, I really didn't write much else down. (LOL) She was absolutely lovely and charismatic, and it's a shame that our video chat was so short, but she was gracious enough to take some time out for us and we all appreciated it.
