Urban Outfitters To Launch Wedding Line?

WWD is reporting that Urban Outfitters will be launching BHLDN, it's new bridal collection online come Valentine's Day, with it's first free standing store coming sometime in August. As far as what the customer can expect--think a modern twist on vintage, a la Anthropologie (it's sister chain)

Here's what they say:

"Bhldn, Urban Outfitters Inc.’s newest retail concept, is the firm’s attempt to put its unique, slightly off-kilter stamp on the bridal business. Rather than traditional gowns, Bhldn is more likely to make a large, lopsided taffeta bow the focal point of a dress, give a wedding gown an unfinished hem or cover elaborate pearl-studded flowers with a sheer layer of tulle so only a hint of the decoration is visible.

There’s also a design component featuring items with a do-it-yourself sensibility, such as flower garlands that look homemade but are already put together, as well as glassware, serving pieces, candelabras, cake toppers and lanterns. Many pieces are one of a kind or reproductions and share its sister chain Anthropologie’s philosophy for singular discoveries and repurposed found items."

Apparently it will not only offer wedding gowns (ranging from $1,000 to $4,000) and event dresses (ranging from $200 to $600) but tabletops, cake pedestals, place cards, and everything else for decorating a venue.

What do you think of this concept?
Would you buy your wedding dress from Urban Outfitters?

  1. not sure im crazy about the concept, but i'll definitely look!
i couldn't care less where i buy my dress from.. i frequently browse winners (canadain tj.maxx) for any white dress as i am not into the whole 'bridal' blitz that most get sucked into.. im just going to be there for the event.
