Beauty Tip Of The Day: Winter Hand Rescue.

Tips to keep hands soft during winter.

Protect your hands:

When it's cold, you always cover your arms, legs and neck before going out, and the same rule should apply to your hands. Always wear gloves to protect your delicate skin from the cold and wind that might chap the skin on your hands and eventually cause it to crack.

Stay away from alcohol:

Don't worry, we're not asking you to give up your love of Pinot Noir, we're simply suggesting you avoid using products (lotion, creams, hand sanitizer, etc) on your hands that contain alcohol. It can dry out skin causing it to sting, get flaky and be more prone to cracking during the winter.

Don't wash with hot water:

It might feel nice initially, but rinsing your hands (and the rest of your body for that matter) in hot water is bad news for your skin because it causes it to dry up. Instead, always wash with lukewarm water that will help your skin retain its moisture.

Use olive oil:

In addition to being great for your diet, olive oil is a wonderful (and affordable) topical moisturizer as well. For an easy DIY deep moisturizing trick at home, simply rub olive oil on your hands, then throw on some old cotton gloves or socks. Leave them on for at least five minutes, then rinse to remove any excess oil. Do this once a week in the winter to keep hands extra soft.
