Garnier Fructis Blow Dry Pefector Review: My First Impression

Have you heard of Garnier Fructis new product the Blow Dry Perfector? It's been plastered all over the magazines and if you have wavy or curly hair it's probably already caught your attention. Well, thanks to Garnier and BuzzAgent I got to try it first hand.

Some of you already know about my thick frizzy hair (or atleast you should--I complain about it just about every week) so I was excited to test this out since it promises:
  • Tame Frizz
  • Smooth & Shiny Hair
  • Easier, Faster Blow Dries
  • Last up to 7 shampoos
Sounds great, right? Well, not quite.....

First, the kit contains a Smooth it Serum (Step 1) and you have to apply it with gloves (provided in kit) which was a little bit of surprise but no big deal. The instructions also had a note that said it's normal for the serum to have an "odor" but it no way, shape, or form prepared for the smell. IT SMELLS AWFUL. There's no nice way to put it, It's b-a-d.

After you put of the serum you have to comb your hair through with a comb to make sure it's evenly distributed and then wait for 20 mins (If you have thick hair like me, they suggest to wait 30mins)

I'm not going to lie I was dying to take off the smelly serum, I waited the 30 mins and rinsed it off. Then came Step 2. The Heat Activated Perfect-It Cream. This smelled good (Thank God). Depending on your hair length you may or may not need to use the whole tube. Once that's set, all you have to do is blow dry and flat iron your hair as usual.

In the end, it ended up taking me the same amount of time I usually take to straighten my hair (45mins) and although my hair was straight I didn't really notice much of a difference from when I normally blow dry and flat iron my hair.

Unless you have extremely curly hair or maybe have a hard time straightening your hair with your normal hair routine I probably wouldn't bother with this product and here's why:

1. The smell alone put me off and I wouldn't use it again because of that. (Even when you rinse off the serum and put on the Perfect-It Cream your hair still smells of it)

2. There was no time difference from my usual hair routine.

3. My hair was straight and smooth but didn't show much of a difference from when I usually straighten my hair without the Blow Dry Perfector.

I am going to wait my 7 shampoos and do a follow up review to see if maybe I feel differently about it then.

Have you tried the Garnier Fructis Blow Dry Perfector yet? What did you think? Let me know!
