You want me to put that WHERE??!

The more and more I talk to other mommies the more we all agree on ONE thing. Our little munchkins are priority which means we don't spend as much money on ourselves as we use to. Even if you don't have kids, the economy has us ALL tightening our belts. So what can we do? We look for cheaper alternatives that sometimes work out even better than the pricier ones that we used to use! I'm going to start a recurring post on Babblings called "Beauty On A Budget" where I compare high end products to lesser end products we can all afford. First up-FACE PRIMERS.

Face Primers are a key element to making your foundation look flawless and we're all familiar with award winners like Smashbox Photofinish or MAC matte-ifying gel, but what if we can't afford the hefty price tags? Monistat Chaffing gel works great! I know what you're thinking...this-is-a-joke. "Jenny has me putting lady cream on face, ha-ha..good one." But I'm SERIOUS! Monistat's chaffing gel has almost the same ingredients as expensive primers with half the cost!

It works great on dry skin because it's a thicker cream so it's smoothes over all those dry areas. If you have oily or combination skin try using an oil mattifier underneath. I personally have dry skin so this product works perfect on me. A little dab is all you need so the tube will last you forever.

Smashbox Photo Finish (1)oz: $36
MAC Matte-ifying gel(0.75)oz-$18
Monistat Chaffing Gel(1.5)oz-$8 avg

Have you tried Monistat Chaffing gel as a primer?? Do you like the Beauty On A Budget idea?? Let me know!

  2. I have used this trick and it works! I was tired of paying so much for my Bare Minerals primer so I switched. It really works the same, if not better.

I love your blog and look forward to following for some great tips!

  3. What an idea! I think I want to try it. I have Smashbox primer right now (one of the essentials that I really can't afford, but buy for myself anyway because I like it so much), but if I can get the same effect for 1/4 of the price, why not?
